  24.  This application provides interactive help when the !Help
  25. application (or !Bubblehelp) is active, and requires Risc OS
  26. 3.1 or later.

  29. What this software does
  30.  
  31.  It calculates from a molecular formula the molecular
  32. weight, and also the mass of the compound corresponding to a
  33. selected number of millimoles. The percentage elemental
  34. composition can be displayed, and the user may also define
  35. their own groups for use in calculations. Formulae are
  36. entered in a way as near to the conventional method of
  37. writing formulae as is consistent with the standard WIMP
  38. interface. For example, methane is C1H4, and toluene (methyl
  39. benzene) could be entered either as C7H8, or as C6H5C1H3.

  42. Running the application
  43.  
  44.  As a fully RISC-OS compliant application it can be started
  45. from within the desktop by double clicking on the !MolWeight
  46. icon in a directory viewer. Its icon is installed on the
  47. iconbar. Clicking with SELECT on the iconbar icon opens a
  48. window into which the formula can be entered, and the
  49. results of the calculation are displayed. The program
  50. normally uses average atomic weights for the calculations,
  51. but it is also possible to use exact values of isotopic
  52. atomic weight for a range of common isotopes. Since the
  53. program allows you to enter your own data, any particular
  54. isotope can be accommodated.
